The Bird Who Loved Marion Bronze...

*Many years ago, there was a little black-capped chickadee who’s name was Joseph Francis.  Joseph Francis LOVED BOOKS! He loved to buy books and then make the books available to as many birds as possible, so that lots and LOTS of birds could develop the profound love for books that he had!

*Joseph’s home was filled to over-flowing with books on every subject imaginable!
“He who has no books is lost, and he who is lost, has no books!” little Joseph Francis used to laugh and tweet.

*Joseph would often fly all over town to look for new places where he could gather and buy books.  He appreciated books completely and nothing satisfied little Joseph’s heart as much as finding a book that he knew another bird was looking for and then delivering the hard-to-find, sought-after book, to the very bird that mentioned he or she was looking for it!

*One day Joseph Francis flew to the home of a long-time bird book dealer friend named Mister McCosh.  Mister McCosh invited Joseph Francis into his home. Joseph Francis was so excited to visit with Mister McCosh that he flew right into Mister McCosh’s long white beard and was stuck there!  Mr. McCosh didn’t care one bit.

*Mr. McCosh said to Joseph, “Why don’t you just hang around in my beard and I’ll show you around my home!”

*So…that’s exactly what Joseph did.  Little Joseph Francis was beside himself at the vast amount of books Melvin owned! As they walked through Mister McCosh’s home, Mister McCosh would lean in close to the books on the shelves so little Joseph Francis could see all the book titles close up, from the comfort of Mr. McCosh's beard!

*They spent the entire day together laughing and talking about books and Joseph Francis was the happiest he had ever been in his entire life!

*Talking and tweeting about books was next to Heaven to Joseph!

*Just before the day ended Mister McCosh said, “I have a surprise for you Joseph!”

*Then he took Joseph down to his basement and said, “You my friend, are the only one in the world who appreciates books as much as I do, therefore, I am giving you this 'Monk with Book' - Marion Bronze Bookend"!

*Mr. McCosh explained to Joseph that now, EACH OF THEM would have ONE of the two, matching, monk-reading-Marion-Bronze bookends, to symbolize the fact that … “All the great books in the world - would be located somewhere IN-BETWEEN these two bookmarks!”

*Little Joseph Francis was honored at the thought of the two of them owning all the BEST books in the world!

*Joseph Francis was touched by Mr. McCosh's gesture so much, that he couldn’t find adequate words, in that moment, to express his love for their friendship, as well as his appreciation of this most treasured gift!

*The Marion Bronze Bookend became little Joseph Francis' most prized possession. Every single day, Joseph would perch on the bookend and marvel at it's magnificent workmanship and color! Additionally...the fact that the book end was made in the 1920's, (according to the etching on the back of it)  gave little Joseph Francis chills up and down his feathery spine every time! What a spectacular gift his friend had given to him!
*Joseph Francis' would spend long hours  quietly sitting and admiring his bookend every day. Then he would soar up into the air, and start flying around in gigantic happy circles and with total exhilaration and abandonment he would tweet loudly..."I'm in love with Marion Bronze!"
