A Few Pages in the Diary of a Bird House Addict...

Imagine...if you were to randomly step into somebody's back yard, and as you swiveled your head around from left to right, imagine... that you saw before you, 50 different kinds of birdhouses! Who has 50 birdhouses in their yard? A Psychopath? A An Elderly Person?  My Doppleganger?


My decoration of choice in the back yard is a variety of stinkin' cute birdhouses! Lovely, COLORFUL, whimsical, BIRDHOUSES! Why do they make me so happy? I have NO idea, but when I see a birdhouse, I have to glob on to it! Then the debate starts...do I NEED another birdhouse? Absolutely NOT! Can you imagine, my poor husband, each time I come home and say..."Look Dear! I found the cutest birdhouse!" Can you fathom what my husband must FEEL when he sees me come home with yet ANOTHER 'absolutely adorable' birdhouse!  My husband is a SAINT! He truly is a SAINT! 


I don't know why I love birdhouses so much. I have birdhouse criteria though! I absolutely don't love EVERY birdhouse out there! No intricate painting on a birdhouse so it looks like a replica of a real place! No floral applications painted on the sides! No theme birdhouses! No ceramic large birds with a hole in the side so it looks like a birdhouse! I have strict standards!


You wouldn't think anybody would get all excited about a birdhouse, but there are a lot of us out there! It's something nobody wants to talk about. Birdhouse Addicts. You'll see it though...you'll be in a store and a woman goes by with a sweet little birdhouse in her cart. The next thing you know you literally go hunting for the area in the store where that woman must have found that birdhouse!  Now keep in mind, that prior to that moment, you were NOT even thinking about birdhouses! But now! Now that the trigger has been cocked, YOU yourself go off half cocked, totally DETERMINED to find a cute birdhouse for YOURSELF like that damn lady had in her cart! What's wrong with this picture?


I suppose eventually I'll have to take the first step and go talk to somebody about my birdhouse addiction. But I imagine if I was in a circle with a group of women and we each got to talking about how much we love our birdhouses...I just see that as upping the odds that my addiction could get worse!
