As early as 1955, it was discovered that nursing students often have black capped chickadees for mentors. The black capped chickadee has a brilliant mind and due to it's small size, it can better assess a patient's condition by landing on the patient. The black capped chickadee's mentoring of nurses has proved invaluable in the nursing community.
Black capped chickadees are also helpful in reminding nurses when bed-pans need to be removed. Here we see a nursing student on rounds coming up with a diagnosis on a male with a heavy smoking addiction.
