Feeding
a child who is the same size as you are can prove to be challenging.
Finding quality bugs to eat, in't always an option.
That's why the first thing a woodpecker does is...
teach their offspring... the fine art of eating suet logs!!
After just a few strategic demonstrations...often bird youth are able to get started on their own suet consumption!
After a woodpecker child's solo 'suet dining' has been an established daily routine..., RANDOM WOODPECKER PARENT FLY-BY's will occur !!! At that point, the woodpecker parent will closely examine their woodpecker child’s BEAK and look for tell-tail 'SUET MUSTACHES as EVIDENCE that their child really has made suet eating attempts on it's own!
