When birds are ‘on edge’ from stressful situations, they often sit on the icy edges of birdbaths to cool down.
Many different varieties of birds claim the ‘cooled’ ice crystals on the edge of winter bird baths, brings a sense of calm to their bird brains.
Other species of birds see the crystals around the rim of winterized birdbaths, and assume they are landing on super-sized margarita rims!
Then there is that one illusive character of bird who just plain likes to cool his jets on ice.
